It has been a slow start to 2021 with lockdown slowly opening up what various business can do, and Skern has been quick to react through every phase.
April has been busy for us with lots of day visitors during the Easter holidays enjoying some great socially distanced activities. We have also welcomed our first intake of Kingswood Apprentices for an intensive month long programme delivered by Skern Training & Skills. It's so good to have people back on the centre.
As pupils return from the Easter break we start to open the doors to schools coming for a day of adventure. Tailored programmes to meet each schools requirements, linking topics worked on in the classroom to a action packed day on the activities at Skern Lodge. For some schools not able to make the journey, we are taking to the road and bringing the adventure to the school grounds.
But we long for May 17th, when we start to see schools returning for residentials and we start to get some form of normality back. It's going to take time, but the systems we have put in place to conform to the Covid19 guidelines, will ensure that all our customers shall remain safe and our residential programmes can run as close to what they did before.
The not so high, high ropes course.
Things have moved forward here too and past customers will see some great new changes happening, from a new high ropes course being installed to even a change in the centre management. Glyn has hung up his Skern fleece and is heading on his next adventure, starting in May with a simple kayak trip all the way around Britain.

Stepping into the Centre Manager role is a familiar face - Richard Thomas, Richard has worked through a process of transition and is ready to steer the ship on its next journey. There are plenty of the familiar faces around and several new ones looking to bring the same level of quality and memorable experiences as we did before.
Summer isn't far away and building on the success of August last year we will be offering a range of opportunities for people to experience Skern, including: camping, family stay and plays, kids summer camps and B&B stays. Plenty of ways to ensure that those who missed their school residential can still get their Skern adventure experience.
