With the summer holidays coming to an end, we are preparing for an exciting autumn
ahead. September sees the return of lots of school groups back at Skern and we can't wait to see so many of our returning customers again. But it's not just schools, we have lots of youth and graduate development courses planned for September, both at Skern and based around the country at some of our other sister sites. We're gearing up and getting ready for a very busy time ahead, out on the road and on site.
We have some very interesting courses and events too, during September. We're looking forward to welcoming a group from Moorvision. An amazing charity set up to help
support individuals and families with visually impaired children and young people. Vision impairment is one of the least common disabilities of childhood and it can be hard for these children and their families to meet others in the same position. Moorvision runs activities, residential trips, parent/carer training and other support sessions. We have an action packed weekend planned for them, full of fun activities and supportive workshops.
Appledore book festival is also back at Skern, making the most of the space in the front field. We won't be following up the famous 2020 drive-in book festival, this time they have a marquee arranged for some great guest speakers.

We have lots of brave fund raisers joining the Over and above charity abseil. They will be meeting us out at Hartland to abseil off Berry Cliff. Each person dangling over 180ft of sheer cliff to raise money for a great cause. Once again, thanks goes to the Stucley estate for their support in this event. If you want to join in the fun and raise some money for a great cause, click the link above.
September also sees the return of our A level geography fieldwork courses. Second year A level students will be venturing out across North Devon to capture data for their independent investigations. Supported by our eagerly anticipating fieldwork team. After a difficult year of on-line learning it will be great to see these students out and about undertaking some real practical fieldwork. Looking for a venue for your students, see what we have to offer.
We have also got a number of great team building days arranged by various companies. A perfect way to get teams who have been working from home, back together.
It's also a great opportunity for a reward and recognition day, which is what the team from Mc Donald's in Barnstaple are planning in the coming weeks.
Well that's just September. October, November & December are just as busy and as always Skern continues to grow and develop. We will have lots more to update you on in the coming months so keep checking in. Keep smiling, no need for those September blues, the nights might be drawing in, but oh well, it will soon be Christmas!
