With the school summer holidays fast approaching you may be thinking of a few days by the seaside. The North Devon coast offers fantastic beaches, and the beautiful countryside offers an exciting place to explore and a truly amazing setting for adventurous activities.
Here at Skern Lodge we have tried to make it as easy as possible for families to visit the area and get out and explore. Our family Adventure package provides you with comfortable family accommodation and an action packed weekend of adventure.
On your arrival you will have time to settle in and have dinner before we ease you in with an evening of archery and orienteering. After a full English breakfast a full day of activities await including surfing, assault course, zip wire and an evening of camp craft and campfire. Of course there will be a break for lunch and dinner, but remember to save some space for marsh-mallows around the fire. The next day you will journey on kayaks on the River Torridge where Henry Williamson’s fictional otter, Tarka would play and explore. The double sit-on-top kayaks provide the ideal opportunity for younger children to experience the tidal waters in a safe and stable craft. Whilst learning new skills and techniques as they journey with the tide. After lunch it’s time to reach new heights on the high ropes course. Leap for the trapeze, balance on the high beam or swinging like a monkey are some of the many elements on offer.
You may be surprised how staying at an outdoor centre can be so comfortable, similar to staying at a youth hostel with full board. A lounge to relax in and a kitchen for making tea and coffee when required. Safe areas to play within our 22 acres of grounds and someone on night duty ensuring any worries are cared for 24 hours per day.

You can stay an extra night or nights and use us as a base to explore some of the other wonders of North Devon. Maybe just a day on the beach or book more activities with us and extend your adventure.
We currently have two weekends planned for August:
16th - 18th August 2019
23rd - 25th August 2019
But if you can't make either of those weekends or would prefer a mid week date, get in touch and ask about our stay and play options.
